Judging
Selected judge — The Winter Classic 2026
The Ultimate Cultivators' Showdown · Presented by NYC420CCC and C4 Events · New York City
Blind-judged cultivator competition. 64 growers maximum, 8 categories, 8 entries per category, grouped into 4 head-to-head brackets. Every entry is judged blind against a standardized scoring rubric by a panel of 20 industry judges, so reputation, popularity and branding play no part in the score. The top 2 entries in each category advance — 4 per bracket, 16 growers in total — to knockout rounds, where champions are decided head to head. A separate People's Choice Pre-Roll category, run with WeedBuds, is ranked by the first 100 paid attendees rather than the judging panel.

The 8 categories
Paired into 4 brackets
Blind judged against a standardized rubric — reputation, popularity and branding play no part in the score. 64 Growers. 8 Categories. 20 Judges. 4 Champions.
The method
The 3-Pillar Master Review Index
Every flower is scored on the same three things, in the same order, every time.
Jar nose and the aroma once it's broken down
Smoothness, ash colour, and how well the flavour translates through the smoke
Longevity and the actual effect
A published, fixed method is the difference between a review and an opinion. It also means the scores are comparable to each other — an 8.7 here means the same thing it meant two years ago. The Numbers page shows the entire spread, including the bad ones.
Editorial policy
Nobody pays for a score
Sponsorship or free product never determines a review score. Rory stays self-funded on products she formally reviews wherever possible. A brand or dispensary appearing in her work never guarantees favorable coverage. The line between reviewer and marketer stays intentional.
In production
State of Smoke NJ
A six-episode documentary asking one question: what is the State of Smoke in New Jersey? New Jersey legalized cannabis on a promise of social equity and a real craft market — the series investigates whether that promise was kept.
